Committee Position Descriptions

Director/Event Coordinator – These individuals lead the committee meetings, tend to emails regarding their commitee, and organize work between the members of their respective committee.

Assistant Director/Assistant Event Coordinator – These individuals help assist the director or event coordinator with their responsibilities. They are also responsible for the responsibilities of the director or event coordinator if they are absent in any event.

Member – These individuals are important in delivering ideas, production, and feedback to their directors or event coordinators and the executive team.

Academic Year-Round Committees

Finance Committee – For those interested in: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Budget Analysis, Management, Economics, Finance, and Data Analysis.

The Finance Committee Members aid the treasurer in making financial budgets, looking for sponsorships, and organizing possible fundraisers.


Humanitarian Awareness Committee – For those interested in: Humanitarian Issues, Delegation, Working with Non-Profits, Communications, Global Resources, International Issues, Journalism, Public Policy, and Politics.

The Humanitarian Awareness Committee works with its Committee Director to plan events that bring awareness to global issues and make strides to better inform Iowa State students of important issues worldwide.


Publicity Committee – For those interested in: Advertising, Merchandising, Graphic Design, Business, Mass Communications, Photography, Web Design, Public Relations, and Marketing.

The Publicity Committee will work alongside the Publicity Committee Director on awareness efforts for ISC. The Publicity Committee works on creative ways to promote and advertise ISC events and maintain ISC’s public relations with different subsections, such as marketing, advertisement, graphic design, photography, web design, and more!

Student Advocacy Committee – For those interested in: Student Affairs, Communications, Delegation, Journalism, Entrepreneurship, Working with School Administrators, International Outreach, Public Policy, and Politics.

The Student Advocacy Committee is the platform for international students to voice their issues. Student Advocacy members will work with the committee’s director, and other university committees, organizations, and departments to discuss policy changes and host events that will help with issues international students face.

Social Volunteer Committee – For those interested in Social projects, Communications, International Outreach, Management, and Event Execution

*NOTE* The Social Volunteer Committee is an experimental project for Spring 2024. Volunteers will work closely with other committees and administrators on their projects. You will also help host events that will deal with issues international students face. If you would like to help with social projects such as, the bed initiative, this committee may be for you!

Fall Semester Event Committees

International Week Event Committee – For those interested in: Art, Performance Management, Event Management, Event Planning, and International Culture.

The International Week Event Committee will work other international and multicultural organizations to organize a fun, interactive event that will be held during International Week 2024. The event allows visitors to experience different nationalities and cultures from all over the world. This year, there will be three events and as a member, you will get to create fun international events along with other committee members and an event coordinator. You will have first-hand experience in planning and executing tasks while collaborating with multiple international and multicultural groups at ISU.

World Cuisine Committee – For those interested in: Food, Event Management, Event Planning, and International Culture.

World Cuisine Committee will work with other international and multicultural organizations to organize the International World Cuisine Event during International Week 2024. You will be coordinating, planning and organizing tasks pertaining to sales, dining, culinary preparation and risk management. World Cuisine is an event in which many multicultural organizations have the opportunity to represent and showcase their culture through various food and drinks.


Spring Semester Event Committees

International Food Fair – For those interested in planning and organizing tasks pertaining to sales, dining, culinary preparation and risk management.

IFF is an annual event in which many multicultural organizations have the opportunity to represent and showcase their culture through various food and drinks.

World Soccer Tournament – For those interested in: Sports, Event Management, Event Planning, and International Culture.

The World Soccer Tournament Committee will work with other international and multicultural organizations to organize a fun, interactive event. You will have first-hand experience planning and executing tasks while collaborating with multiple international and multicultural groups at ISU.
